2 Ingredients Your Podcast Is Missing and Why Using Them Will Increase Subscribers

Launching a podcast can be a fun adventure. You can bring your voice, your grievances and your thoughts to the world without having to go through a producer editor Other sections or filters.

Although you can have great content, you can lose the mark when it comes to adding a little pizza to your podcast. Interviews with experts, private conversations about your favorite issues, and energizing music are all like listeners. However, if your podcast lacks interest, it will be in the podcast directory with no downloads and very few subscribers.

Since I just started podcasting, I wanted to make sure I was on the right track. So I asked some other podcasters what makes a great podcast. While they agree that it is a great marketing tool, they disagree on two elements that can make or break the popularity of your podcast – the use of humor and personality presence.

Donna Papacosta, a podcaster who heads a communications company in Oakville, Ontario and is a self-hosted podcast, advises that when communicating with business people, leave a joke.

“For B2B podcasts, I’m skipping jokes. People want content that is relevant to them,” says Papacosta.

However, Penny Haynes, CEO of a Georgia-based company that teaches people how to create their own podcasts through virtual courses, disagrees. She does not think your podcast should be dry and hard, no matter who your target audience is.

“Everyone has their own ideas and preferences regarding the show, but I like a bit of a joke. Someone’s personal part can add a lot to it,” Haynes says.

Paige Eissinger, a Missouri computer call radio host, says she was immediately attracted to podcasts that included a few jokes.

“The worst people in the world to do business with are not funny, and I certainly do not listen to their podcasts,” says Eissinger.

“I do not mean that you should have jokes ready for all your B2B podcasts, just that if your message lends itself to jokes, take advantage of it,” Eissinger says.

Intelligence is one thing, but ignorance can really shut down an audience. Just ask Papacosta who is not afraid to unsubscribe from Podcast if it turns out to be a complete dud.

“I hit the stop button on a lot of podcasts because of content that I consider stupid or a waste of my time,” says Papacosta.

At the end of the day, it is the personality of the podcast that will win over many fans and get a huge number of downloads.

“Content [of a podcast] “The important thing, but surprise, surprise – personality wins out. When it comes to the choice between great content and great personality, personality is the winner,” says Haynes.

Haynes described a podcast in which she shared her thoughts and feelings about celebrating the one-year anniversary of her business. She was amazed at the response of her listeners.

“They like it because it makes me real. They feel invited and involved in my private world,” Haynes says.

Eissinger can be contacted. One of her favorite podcasts was posted by a man with a southern accent. Although she learned a lot from his podcast, she was a person who liked her voice and in her heart, which gave a lot of personality to his podcast.

“His content is great and very relevant to my business, but [his Texan] Accents catch me all the time, ”Eissinger said.

While loneliness, humor, and personality can add to the confusion of a podcast, Toronto-based financial adviser Angelo Cerase has a list of podcasts he likes to listen to when the podcasters lack focus on the show. They.

“I really hate it when a podcast has a writer going on and on with no real plan or script of what he’s going to say,” Cerase says.

“A little ‘useless’ filling is welcomed in the podcast, it makes people on the other side look human. But too much is too much,” Cerase says.

Having great microphones, blurry music, and content that shatters the earth is not enough. You need to incorporate a bit of humor and personality into your podcast to really get people to subscribe to your newsletter from week to week.
