How To Reach Your Music Marketing Goals Guaranteed!

The music market can be slippery. You get up every day and keep yourself busy with hundreds of different tasks, and you sit back at the end of it all, feeling warm and safe in the knowledge you are reaching for. Your goal.

The hardest working musicians know that you get what you pay for your music career and that currency is hard work!

In some cases, this can lead to “busy man syndrome” in which the patient works blindly without a plan and does not use time resources most effectively.

It is easy to fool yourself into thinking that hard work is productive work and without a clear goal you can keep yourself busy for years without any progress.

Now, before we go any further, I must tell you that for the most part of my life I hate goals.

Let me explain …

Say I reached my goal of selling 100,000 albums this year … That was good and good, but to be honest with me There is really no control over whether or not I achieve that goal at all.

Now I know it sounds a bit vague, but before you hit the big x and kill this post forever, all I want is that if I were to sell a lot of albums I would have to persuade 100,000 people to Withdraw their money. And click the “Buy Now” button.

It does not matter how much cool bonus or t-shirt I give away for free, it is still up to those people to make a decision which means I can not control. It’s like building a career goal, music on the sand.

That is why goals always seem like a waste of time for me because I can achieve the biggest and most ambitious goals and at the end of the day I have no power over my future.

But then I saw the light …

I found that if I thought about the goal in a slightly different way, I could get my rain horse back and ride it all the way to success. Cheesy, right?

Think like that ….

Goal – A big thing that you want to achieve, but that you really do not have any power.

A commitment. – is something you do every day that you think has a high potential to help you achieve that goal. But the great thing about commitment is that you have complete control over the process.

For example, let’s say you want to get 500 people on your mailing list.

So if we are going to use YouTube to achieve this, we can expect that 1% of people who watch our videos will click through to our site and about 10% of those people will join this list.

Now that we have something to go on, you will need 500,000 views on YouTube, which will bring 5,000 visitors to our site and 500 mailing list members. (A lot, but it’s something to work towards.)

Are you with me?

So if you use the YouTube tracking method, you might expect to get about 10,000 views on each overtime video, which means your commitment may be to upload 50 videos in a year or so. 20 times a month for 3 months. This means that if you decide to post 2 videos a day, you can reach your goal in 3 months and then wait to see enough.

After that, you can take stock and see how your plan is achieved.

I hope you find that if you make a commitment to something you have complete control over whether it happens or not.

Now this does not mean that you can relax, because now you have to force yourself to make daily commitments. That’s just the price you have to pay for success in biz music.

How to set goals from now on …

1. You should sit down with a piece of paper and make a list of all the goals you can think of to do with your career.

2. Go to the list and place a star next to each star that you think will be most influential at the moment.

3. Choose a goal that you are really committed to and that motivates you to get up early and work on it before you go to work.

4. Now make a large list of commitments you can make to help you achieve that goal. For example, if you want to play 5 gigs a week, you might want to call the venue manager 20 a day.

5. Choose a commitment that seems likely to bring you closer to your goal.

6. Now choose a period for which you will implement the commitment. I find that two or three months will give you a good amount of time to see if it is Process.

7. The next step is to work on your plan every working day without fail. (You should choose one day every week to relax and do nothing).

8. At the end of the commitment period, you should sit down and watch how you did. Have you reached your goal? Take a look at what worked and do more and fix what didn’t work.

Like I said before, this should be something that wakes you up every morning and keeps you working late into the night.

Honestly! Do you know any voices?

You really do not want to play five guitars a week, you want to quit your job and tell your boss fu @% off.

– You really do not want the deal you want to be famous. (Okay!)

You do not want to be a millionaire, you want status and a sense of accomplishment that comes from knowing that you have “done it” and the freedom to follow your path in life.

Take a look inside and find that big goal for your goal and put it right on top of your plan. Keep working until you find something very cool that you want. Break the metal wall to get into it.

Real goals can increase the chances of success by 90%.

Last thought.

Stop beating yourself up about not achieving your goals and start making commitments that have the best chance of guiding you in the direction you want to go.

Many people get stuck because the mountain seems difficult to climb, but if you have never taken your first step you will be the one to stay in the base camp and make sausages while the others get sex, drugs and rock. And roll.

There was a lot of sex, drugs and hanging out. Come share!

Good luck,

– Chris
