Emmy Belle – Seattle Supergirl

The road to the top for some is a difficult and lonely journey. Emmy Belle is a Seattle native who has worked on her dream for many years. In the past, she was the lead singer of a very successful Seattle band where she created her vocals and vocals with pop / rock influences. Her solo “Gemini Child” is fascinated by her voice and personality.

• How did you start singing?

“My parents told me I started singing when I learned to speak, it was just the beginning. My first memories were scattered with music. I would beg my mother to sing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ for me. Before going to bed every night, and whenever I had trouble sleeping, my dad would take me around the room singing “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” I remember sitting in front of a stereo with headphones. Grow up and listen to what we have around the house. — Some Disney Records, Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes, Theatrical Records, Music and Motown. I always loved music, so I sang along.

• Who are your musical influences?

“I have different influences depending on whether I am in the writing stage, the production stage or somewhere in between. In this album, I find myself very attractive in storytelling. I’m tired of writing. About love or heartbreak, so I decided to tell a different story. I’m listening to artists like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks and Chuck Berry. Can not deny a good song with a simple story.

In terms of music, I think I’m influenced by a combination of all the music I used to love. In addition, the music from where is still abstract for me.

When it came to producing albums, I listened to a lot of Fleetwood Mac and Dead Man’s Bones. I listened to producers like Rick Rubin and T-Bone Burnett. I love electronic music, but coming to this album, I just spent a few years stuck in my room to produce most of my music entirely on a computer. After my Gemini Child EP in December 2009, I wanted to get out of there and create a more humane and animated album. Production is also influenced by the nature of the lyrics, which is an attempt to create a world in one song. I found myself drawing attention to a specific time. The day before the session, I was at home procrastinating something that needed to be done before entering the studio and the West came in. The opening scene is set in a salon and there is a vertical piano playing old western songs. The style and sound are perfect for the visuals and feel of a particular song, so I came up with the idea. “Sometimes interesting ideas come from different places.”

• What are you listening to right now? What’s in your iPod?

“Now I’m fascinated by Adele’s new song ‘Rolling in the Deep.’ It was co-written and produced by Paul Epworth, who has done a lot of work with Florence and the Machine, another artist I love at the moment. “Rolling in the Deep” is a great song and produced wisely, it is probably the closest thing I have heard recently that resembles my new song. I like the way the song Balanced, cut the verse with a thick chorus, back when I heard the old spiritual backup in the bridge.

I also love the Black Keys, Fleet Foxes and Brandi Carlile. I listen to a lot of classical songs; I have always loved music from the 60s and 70s in general. Beatles. Abbey Road is probably my favorite album of all time. Now “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” by Jimmy Ruffin stuck in my head. Great song. ”

• What’s next for the Emmy? When do we expect to hear some new music?

“Hopefully soon this album is in the final stages of mixing. I just moved from Seattle to Los Angeles, so I’m in the process of arranging a live band here, but I’m on my way to Seattle this month to complete the mix and give it a try. For the release of this album, I have some important business decisions that I need to make before I know when, but I’m really excited. “That released the song there and I can not wait to get back on stage.”
