House Blessings – Bless Yours NOW!
It is time to drive the enemy out of your home and family life. My wife and I recently purchased an 85 year old Victorian home in Stephenville, Texas. We call it Vanderbilt Place, and we operate it as a rooming house. On New Year’s Eve 2005, we asked for a blessing at home with some friends. This has made a huge difference not only in terms of retention but also in the quality of tenants we have attracted since that day.
Later, after sharing this experience with a friend, a local business woman asked if we would pray with her about her business. Once we prayed, not only did productivity increase, but the powerful ungodly element was greatly reduced, starting with the resignation of the manager after a few months.
I didn’t want to be too ritualistic in this message, which might invite the devil of other religions. Consider it a template; can be customized according to your needs. So I keep it simple and relatable so that others can bless their homes like YOU! Don’t wait until Sunday to do something spiritual…we are the Church, not a building! You don’t have to wait for a minister either… You are one in the Scriptures.
In America today, we tend to scream at social problems and throw money at them. We also point fingers a lot. What I am suggesting is that what the enemy has stolen from us, American Christians must take back home. Starts TODAY! As they say, if you want something you’ve never had, do something you’ve never done.
Single parents, grandparents, college students alone in their dorms, apartment dwellers, apartment managers, or property owners—if you’re a Christian, you have the authority to rule over your place. Don’t delay. Grab some friends and a bottle of extra virgin olive oil from the kitchen, pray as the Spirit leads, and start anointing… first your place, then THEIRS! There is power in consensus, so do it regardless of their dignity! If you want, fellowship or sing a hymn later. Here’s what we’re doing. Do the same and be blessed!
1) TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SOULS THAT HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A LIFETIME OF HOME STORY – KEEP THE DOOR OPEN FOR THEM TO ESCAPE. The Bible declares, “Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee.” Here is a prayer you can start with:
In the name of our Messiah Jesus, by the power of His Blood and Cross, and by the power of the Holy Spirit who raised Him from the dead and now dwells within us, we bind all spirits to air, fire and water. earth, the underworld and the underworld, and we connect any satanic forces of nature assigned to this abode. You will not steal from us anymore! In fact, according to Eph 4:28, you will repay us sevenfold. “If a thief is caught, he must pay sevenfold.” This includes seven times as much time, energy, money, health and everything else stolen from God’s children.
We break all generational and verbal curses, hexes, spells, witchcraft, and magical practices that have been invited into this house, intentionally or unintentionally, over the past generations.
Within these walls we associate the interaction and interaction of demonic spirits. And we claim the shed Blood of Jesus Christ to protect this house, this land, and everyone who spends a moment on this property. May they receive God’s blessings!
Holy Spirit, we call you. Come fill this place now and never leave! We pray this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Here are a few Introductory Scriptures you can choose to start with:
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 1:7)
“Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…” (Revelation 3:20)
2) PRAYER OF BLESSING WHEN ANOINTING WITH OIL
Dearest God, thank You for making us members of Your eternal family through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We are grateful for all the love sent to unite our families on earth, to heal us, and to heal those who have gone before us. Fill this house with your divine presence, we pray. Pour out your love to deepen the friendship shared here. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, may Your wisdom guide us, Your hope set us free, and Your peace bless us. Amen.
We dedicate this home to love and understanding. May the joys and sorrows be shared and the individuality of each person living and visiting here be appreciated.
We use this home for work, rest and play. May our home be full of joy, high friendship, friendly voices, and laughter from within the walls.
We dedicate this house to friendly living. May its doors open with hospitality, its windows graciously visible to other homes and to those who pass by the door.
We dedicate this home to collaboration. May his duties be filled with love, may his furniture testify that the work of others serves for our comfort, and may his table remind us that God works with us to meet our daily needs.
We dedicate this home to the appreciation of all that is good and true. Let books bring wisdom, pictures symbolize beauty, and music bring joy and inspiration.
We dedicate the time and talents of the people who live here to help create a world where every family can have a home of comfort and companionship.
We dedicate this home as a part of the universal church, an instrument of God’s kingdom, a place of worship, a place of Christian learning, and a threshold to eternal life.
Our hearts go out to you, so our thoughts thank God and pray for God’s blessing on this home.
Below are a few Scriptures and reflections on home and God’s care:
1. The Bible teaches that a home is much more than a physical building.
Wisdom builds a house,
and by understanding it is established;
With knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant treasures.
2. We need God’s presence, power, and guidance to make our lives and homes fruitful.
If the LORD does not build the house
those who build it are laboring in vain.
If the Lord does not guard the city
the watchman is awake in vain.
3. The Bible says that it is important to dedicate your home to God. Men in the Bible are warned to dedicate their homes before going into battle!
Then the officials said to the people, “Who is there who has not built a new house and dedicated it?” Return him home, lest he die in battle, and another man dedicate it.’
4. God told his people to write his words on the doors of their houses.
Today, many Jews put a portion of God’s Word on parchment in a container placed at the entrance of their home. They touch the scroll every time they go in and out to remind them that their home belongs to God and what happens there should be guided by God’s word.
These words which I command you today shall be in your hearts, and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall speak of them when you sit at home, when you walk on the road, and when you lie down. and when he got up. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be like the front between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doors and gates of your house.
5. We believe that when a person dedicates their home to God, God will respond to their commitment. When Solomon dedicated the temple, God answered him and told him.
2 Chronicles 7:15
Now my eyes will be open [says the Lord] and my ears are attentive to the prayer made in this place.
Now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever; My eyes and my heart will always be there.
6. When the people of the early Christian movement gathered to teach, preach about Jesus, and pray in the power of the Spirit, they often met in their homes. Even today, a growing movement throughout the Western world – something our Third World brethren have been doing for decades – gathers in homes or wherever the Spirit leads them.
And every day in the temple and at home they did not stop teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.
[Paul] Staying in his rented house for two whole years, he received all who came to him, proclaimed the kingdom of God, and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ…
7. If we welcome him, Jesus can use our home to minister to us and with us.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me.
8. In his teaching, Jesus exemplified the home life of what it means to live under God’s presence and love.
“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms.
If it were not so, would I have told you that I have gone to prepare a place? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to my place.
9. The psalmist also saw God’s care.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
10. How can we use the house that God has lent us? Dedicating your home to God is not a one-time act. This is an ongoing ministry!
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, because some have accidentally entertained angels.
11. We are responsible to God for our home and hospitality. God honors those who consecrate their homes to bless others in need.
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory with all the angels, he will sit on his glorious throne.
All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats…Then the King will say to those on his right hand, “Come, you blessed of my Father! inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; For I was … a stranger, and you welcomed me…”
Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we accept you…seeing a stranger…?” The king will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to the least of my brothers, you did it to me.
Final prayer of blessing:
Almighty God, we thank You for the heart’s desire of this home and all who enter its doors, that everything we do here may be in accordance with Your divine plan, that this home and its inhabitants may be truly and completely dedicated to You, and to serve your kingdom.
We ask you to strengthen them in this commitment. We pray to You, O God, for this home, its inhabitants, and its possessions, that You would bless them, sanctify them, and enrich them in every way with Your goodness. Pour upon them, O Lord, the dew of heaven, and the need of the earth in abundance.
Graciously hear their prayers and allow them to fulfill their needs.
Father, bless this home and every side as we come before you.
to cleanse away any bad deeds of the past and leave it pure, fresh and holy.
Bless this house as you blessed the house of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Isaac
Rebecca of Jacob and Rachel.
May your angels guide and guard those who live within these walls
spend time here through our Lord Jesus Christ.
