Psalm 133 – Harmony and Holy Joy

The king rejoiced at what he saw:

See how sweet and pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to live in harmony!
~Psalm 133:1 (GWT).

The Great Hall of Cair Parvel is home to a legendary palatial estate The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), music is played, the royal family dances with commoners, and there is a public feast. There is reason to celebrate. The Kingdom has won a prophetic victory. Now there is no obstacle to unity.

This is the setting of this hymn. It is perfect before approaching the temple during the annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

LOOK!

Unfortunately lost in most translations (including the WORD OF GOD translation above), the first word of this psalm is the Hebrew word, hinne – “Look!” meaning.

A brief look at the history of the Holy Nation (2 Samuel 5:1-5) takes us to David, the united kingdom of Israel and Judah at that time. We can well imagine that this King, who is about 38 years old, is famous for his harmonious unity.

During this short three-verse hymn, we find one simple theme: the harmony of the crowd, the holy joy that is born in the King. Perhaps the entire hymn can be summed up in the first words; This king is amazed at what he sees before him. “Take notes!” In other words.

This is his dream come true.

KING’S CUP FINISHES – ISRAEL AND JUDAH CUP.

The description of the “precious oil being poured on his head, on his beard, on Aaron’s beard, and over the hem of his robe” really puts the moment in perspective.

We might wonder what on earth all the fuss is about.

But the idea that the high priest’s anointing might be so felt at the time at least tried to curtail the king’s joy. “Aaron” may be symbolic of the historical nation. It is not only the joy of the king, but the joy of the nation.

The second picture is similar. The dew of Hermon is seen falling on the mountains of Zion. It is an image that includes a vivid image of geo-politics; A connection between all who call Yahweh, God.

RELATED TO THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE

This is a vision for the church; is of the world church.

It is our King’s greatest desire that the church should be one under all denominations and spiritualities in Christ; Brothers and sisters will be in harmony with each other, and universal love, both nationally and internationally, will embrace the Christian sphere. Yes, the church will be complete… One day. Maranatha! (Come, Jesus, come!)
