Dream It, Then Do It: Go Find Your Niche In Life: Part 3 Of A 3 Part Series
This is the final part of a 3-part series exploring how we can take control of our destiny, find our place in life, pursue our dreams, and positively push ourselves to achieve our goals. In this final article, I will share with you a real-life example of how to use positive energy, effort, and determination to turn a stressful situation into a positive experience. I do this:
“Mimi Bloopers” first play experience
In middle age, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a songwriter and performer. It wasn’t a rash decision based on a mid-life crisis, but a long-dormant decision in my subconscious. I loved performing and waited for the right moment to refocus that passion.
My desire to pursue the experience of composing and performing in front of a live audience was first pushed by my sister Rosemary, who suffered a stroke at the age of 42 and is a member of OPUS (People Not Afraid of Stroke) in Westchester County. New York. He was my biggest fan and used all his influence to prepare me for my first public performance. I don’t know how he did it, but he had a packed audience. I have to admit. I was very nervous that day, I had stage fright and I got a little bit of laryngitis.I used different costumes, hats, wigs and props for my performance. The mood of my personal compositions along with the Broadway tunes I was planning to sing.. I don’t smoke, but that day I decided to act cute and inhale the smoke while singing trying to push it away. out through the nose. It was the stupidest thing I could do. I should have tried practicing at home instead of in front of a live audience. I burned my nostrils, which made me cough terribly and bring tears to my eyes. The more I choked on the cigarette, the more my wig moved into my eyes. I was afraid that it would catch fire. There I was, trying to sing “Elegance” from Hello Dolly, looking ridiculous on stage in a pair of flip-up sneakers three sizes too big and a big feather boa around my neck.
My voice broke in sheer panic, reaching its peak, and as I moved my arms, I lost my balance and fell backwards. All my weight hit the table support and the tall glass vase fell to the floor. Luckily I didn’t cut myself when I fell. The entire floor was glass, and there were chairs next to the supports of the round table. Immediately, a janitor appeared out of nowhere on the stage and began whistling, sweeping up the broken glass. My voice teachers always tell me that if I find myself in a distracting situation while performing, I need to stay focused and continue singing. As I sang, the crowd laughed as they watched the janitor’s comedy sweep in the background. How terrible, they called my idiots LAUGHING. That’s when I knew my career was over as soon as it started.
The career I hoped to embark on was not as a comedian, but as a professional singer. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Nothing went well. I was very upset. I packed everything and left the building as fast as I could.
In the car, I tried to cheer my sister up, but she didn’t say much. I was far from happy. Instead, I began to cry, muttering that I shouldn’t have been in this business. Maybe I should have listened to my mom and continued to sing as a backing singer in the church choir. I began to regret all the expenses I had incurred to get to this point. The purchase of a brand new piano, trained voices, private piano lessons, my time spent composing, 2 years of vocal training at the Lenev School of Music and Arts, and the professional recording of two of my songs were all wasted. I was in such a rotten mood and completely discouraged. Let’s face it, no one can be discouraged. It happens to all of us at one time or another because “Life is a process of moving from relative ease to the point of crisis.” When I allowed my positive attitude to be overwhelmed by my negative emotions, my dreams began to disappear. I was really looking forward to that first game, but I was disappointed because I didn’t see the results I was hoping for.
My sister asked me indignantly, “What are you doing, stop this drama. Enough of this ‘woeful’ attitude. I’m surprised that you’re such a positive person. This is your first performance and you’re already going to stop it? Yes?” Sometimes it’s okay, sometimes it’s scary. You have to learn to go with the flow.Crawl before you walk, walk before you run. I almost wet my pants in your cleavage. The audience roared. You want people to remember you, don’t you? Look on the bright side. Here’s a great idea… How about adding a comedy situation to every show? Make it a vaudeville comedy. do as type. action.” “Isn’t that a bit old-fashioned?” I remember saying. “Who cares? People need to laugh, you can always beat them to the punch with your voice. Go for it, girl.” Wise sister, thank God you have learned from all this.
Since my first experience, I have managed to write and sing over 25 original songs despite all the obstacles, difficulties and failures I have faced during my time as a songwriter and singer. I started to feel more confident about my progress and future in entertainment. Unfortunately, there were years when I was more successful than others until this part of my life was shut down due to an accident.
Once again, I found myself on the verge of making a conscious decision to pursue another dream. Although my performance as a website administrator and blogger may seem uninteresting, I do not regret my career change. Now I’ve added another heart’s desire to my list of accomplishments as I work toward becoming a successful author. That’s my goal, that’s the hole I want to fill, and when I get there, I’ll stay there.
As you can see, having positive or negative thoughts can make a big difference in finding your place in life.
Positive people take advantage of all the opportunities available to them and free themselves from all self-imposed limitations. These people have a clear vision of not only what they want, but also where they are going. They know that if they hold on to this dream long enough, clearly enough, and confidently enough, it will attract to them all that is necessary to make it happen. A person with a positive attitude towards their role in life will wake up feeling good and wonderful things will happen. Occasionally, he will have unpleasant experiences along the way, but the secret of success is not allowing these experiences to control one’s daily thinking. They just keep waiting for more good things to happen, and it sure does because “like attracts like.”
I hope that by reading this article, you will find a new solution to make something successful in your life and get out of frustration. If you are, then everything I said was worth it. You are now on your way to progress. Dream it, then do it: Find your niche in life. It’s already there, just waiting for you to claim it.
“Hold on to that dream and never let it go… Because that is your strength and courage as you walk the path of life.
Patience is a virtue, but hope is even better. So hold on to that dream, hold on to that dream no matter how old you are.”
