Wicked the Musical – Review

Wicked has been breaking box office records since its worldwide debut. The show has been held since 2003 and has been watched by more than 2 million people.

The musical is based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel, The Wicked Wizard, which takes an unexpected turn on the story of the famous Wizard of Oz.

Wicked begins long before Dorothy appears. Wicked tells the story of the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda, the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North. Wicked is a tale of intrigue that focuses on all the elements of great love, disagreements, family intrigue, and even a little love triangle. More than that, the story gives the audience a few tasty references to the old movies we’ve seen.

The story begins with the death of the Wicked Witch of the West. After Glinda the Good Witch of the North arrives, the citizens of Oz ask her if she knows the Wicked Witch. Reluctant to answer, he finally admits that they met back at university.

The scene changes as Glinda begins to reminisce about her past. Melena, Elphaba’s mother, is revealed to be cheating on her husband. As a result of her actions, a child was born and she was named Elphaba. Elphaba was born unnaturally green, possibly as a result of the fluid given to Melena by a man who cheated on her. Frex, Melena’s husband, is ashamed of his daughter.

Frex and Melena eventually had another daughter, named Nessarose, who was born crippled. Frex, who never came out because of his embarrassment on Elphaba’s behalf, admires Nessarose. When Nessa is old enough, Frex sends her to Sheez University. He also sends Elphaba, but she just goes as a servant. And as a parting gift, Frex gives Nessarose a pair of slippers.

After arriving at the university, Elphaba was surprised at how quickly her plans changed. Headmistress Mrs. Morrible discovers a young girl’s magical talent. He forces Elphaba to enroll in a school curriculum for students with magical abilities. In addition, Elphaba lives with Galinda, a rich witch who is stuck up, mean and rich, even though she thought she would be with her sister. The beginning of their relationship is predictably rocky.

Elphaba has problems but loves her studies. Dr. Dillamond, her favorite professor, also a talking animal, discusses the strange happenings throughout Oz. All animals forget how to speak. Elphaba seems helpless, but the news is deeply disturbing. Everything changes when Dillamond gets kicked out of Shiz because he’s a talking creature. The professor’s first act of taking Dillamond causes Elphaba to move when he traps a lion in a cage. He vows to save the lion and make it his life’s goal to protect all of Oz’s animals.

The Wizard of Oz then calls Elphaba and Galinda, who have been friends ever since. Galinda changed her name to Glinda at this point. After meeting him, Elphaba realizes that she is incapable of doing anything herself. Frustrated, she grabbed a broom and ran away from the wizard.

Rumors spread around Oz that Elphaba can be melted if water is poured on her, much to the chagrin of Fiyero (Glinda’s fiance and Elphaba’s secret admirer). Fiyero heard the rumor and went to find Elphaba. In the end, he leaves his beautiful Glinda for the misunderstood but incredibly kind-hearted Elphaba, leaving Glinda deeply wounded.

However, it wasn’t long before Elphaba left Fiyero. Elphaba caught wind that her sister might be in trouble. He immediately leaves Fiyero and discovers that his sister has been killed by a house collapse. This marks the arrival of Dorothy and her dog Toto. Elphaba is furious when Dorothy steals a slipper (given to her daughter by Frex) right off Nessa’s foot.

Finally, Elphaba and Glinda meet to say their final goodbyes. After a wonderful little song, the film’s most famous final scene is played. The so-called Wicked Witch of the West is sprinkled with water and presumed dead. Although it turns out he only fell through a trap door. He runs off to find Fiyero and they go on to live happily ever after.
