Guitar Music And The Basics Of Music Notation

Fundamentals of Guitar Music and Music Notation. Traditional music notation is a completely independent language. It allows you to write and stream music without having to write it on the page or listen to it.

It’s a known fact that many great guitarists can play great guitar riffs and chords without knowing how to read music.

In fact, some of the most famous guitarists have survived remarkably well without learning music. But at this point I have to tell all guitarists that learning to read music is a great skill.

The most important aspect of this feature is that if you want to learn how a song or melody is made musically, all you have to do is go to your local music store and buy sheet music for the piece you want to play.

Learning how to read and write music is a key asset for musicians and songwriters. This means that the marking record is on paper and ready to be edited and changed.

To further illustrate this point, I must relate my experience before learning to read and write music notation. I was a young songwriter and guitarist who wanted to write the next global hit.

But I found that in certain parts of the songs I would forget what notes I had, I had the lyrics written down, but not the music part.

Needless to say, I lost a lot of time trying to remember and find what notes were in some of my songs. That’s when the penny dropped and I decided I had to learn to read and write music.

Musical notation is written on what is called a Staff or Stave, both of which are the same and serve the same purpose. I will use the term staff in this article.

When you look at the sheet music for the tune you want to learn, you’ll see what’s called a Clef at the very front above the five strings we call the grid.

Before the G clef, you’ll see the time signature.

One gives the beat time and the other gives how many beats are in the bar. If there are any sharps or flats to play with, this will also be visible between the key and the clock and beat numbers.

Taking the time to learn basic music notation will save you hours of listening time trying to figure out how the music is played.

As I said before, all you have to do is buy sheet music and a whole new world of music will open up to you.
