Positive Thinking: Polyanna Syndrome

Why are we bashing Pollyanna so much? After all, she’s just a little girl with a big dose of positivity. May we learn something from him instead of mocking him. I’m not saying we should turn into Pollyanna, but when you think about it, positive thinking is the only smart way forward. Our thinking creates our reality, so isn’t it a little silly to create our reality based on negative thinking? When we realize this, we realize that we cannot afford the luxury of negative thinking.

As Einstein said, “we are bound by the limits of thought.” Mind management is basically the key to life management and we all have the power to choose what we think. Breaking the habit of negative thinking may take time and effort, but it is a habit. So the trick is to create a new habit of looking for the positive. And when you have negative thoughts, the first step is to catch yourself. It might shock you how many of the 60,000 thoughts that go through your head each day are negative. Maybe you can turn it into a positive “but” when you find yourself caught in a negative thought. Whatever it is, find an advantage and find a way to turn it around. Focus on the fact that your outer world reflects your inner world, so which way do you prefer to think? Create positive thinking habits.

A good tool for this is daily affirmations. These are words that are repeated daily to manifest a more positive reality. This is a way to use the power of words to your advantage because your reality starts with your thoughts. Help the mind in a more positive way. Remember, affirmations should be personal, current, and positive, such as “Today I achieve everything I want effortlessly” rather than “I will have no problems today.” You can start with something as simple as “I choose happiness” or “I create my reality.” You can write them, say them, sing them, it’s up to you, but at least six times a day is good.

It’s like you’re right whether you tell yourself you can or you can’t. So what do you have to lose by thinking positively?
